My "comeback" HALF marathon training weeks 7-11/11

Well, after my last post training hit a few KINKS in the road :)

The last few weeks have consisted of a few highs and lows! But hey, that's running!

I ended up with a few issues with my neck, shoulder and possibly gallbladder so have been working on all of them and missed quite a few workouts! (And yes, life got in the way a few times too :)) #keepingitreal

But...the most important thing is that I am on the mend and working my way back.

Some of the positive things that happened was that I got in a 10 miler which went GREAT!!! I've actually gotten in two now, so that makes me feel much better!!

And my speed workouts went well!!!

And my speed workouts went well!!!

Although at the time of this post, I have now moved onto my last training week...week 11...and I am definitely getting nervous and trying to remind myself that although this is my COMEBACK half marathon after 2.5 years away....I want to enjoy the race itself and just be proud of myself that I have worked myself back to long distance running...no matter the pace!!! That is a HUGE accomplishment right there! I know I am not at my peak of training and I knew I wouldn't be, so that's okay but I was hoping to be a little bit faster by now but hey...I am further along than I was 11 weeks ago and there were a few KINKS in the road but it is what it is.  The race is Sunday, October 8 and we will be running the Run Crazy Horse Half Marathon and it is on the Mickelson Trail in the Hill City, SD area.  I have biked parts of the trail many times with some friends of ours and my hubs in the past few years and I always told the hubs I would love to run on it someday. I cannot wait to see the fall colored leaves come through and just soak it all up!! And to return to the racing atmosphere and running community...oh my!!!!! HEAVEN!! My goals for the race: Goal A: Finish the race. Goal B: Finish time 2:30 Goal C: Finish time 2:10 I cannot believe the race is only 4 days away!!! I am so excitedly nervous for all of it.  Thank you so much for tuning back into my journey after such a long hiatus!! Your support and encouragement mean the world to me!! I continue to be #scaredshitlessbutdoingitanyway!! Jodi
